On her first two albums, 1999’s Rivers and 2004’s Call It What You Will, Fort-Worth-native Elizabeth Wills showed considerable promise in the rootsy realm of coffeehouse folk. But despite having nurtured her love of music since early childhood (she wrote her first song on piano at age 6), she made a conscious decision to pursue other interests after leaving Texas for Colorado shortly after her second album. It turned out to be a short retirement. When Wills shared some of her songs with Colorado friend Melissa Wight, Wight was so inspired by what she heard that she launched a record label —Erian — to release Wills’ 2007 “comeback” EP, Fly. True to its title, the album found Wills taking off in a bold new direction, straying outside her folksy comfort zone to work with a team of hit-making co-writers and producers including the Track Masters, the duo of Poke (Jean-Claude Oliver) and Tone (Samuel Barnes) best known for working with mainstream hip-hop and pop stars like Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, and Notorious B.I.G. The result is a set of songs primed to introduce Wills’ music to a much wider audience while still playing to her greatest strengths as a singer-songwriter unafraid to bare her soul.

The label has embarked on some innovative and very effective marketing, for example 10,000 free download cards have been distributed by college street teams and lifestyle-oriented accounts. Broadband platforms include AOL Music and Yahoo! Music, as well as Elizabeth Wills pages on the social networking sites Myspace.com and Facebook.com. Online marketing is being directed by industry veteran Randy Roberts, with support by NetReach.
