The city of Austin has designated the area from Lady Bird Lake to 5th Street and from Lamar to San Antonio as the Seaholm District. Over the next 20 years this former industrial village will complete it’s transformation from a utility zone to Austin’s most revered residential, cultural, and entertainment centers.
In accordance, Seaholm District Music and Arts Fair was put together to create a new festival that is a reflection of this up and coming and vibrant city center. For one night in September we will come together at 3rd and Nueces and celebrate all that makes Austin great. This event was conceived by a group of neighborhood business owners, community leaders, and residents, along with event producers, The Electric Company.
SMAF will feature all that we love about Austin – its great local music, delicious food, diverse artistic works highlighting Austin culture, and what fall Saturday would be complete without the Longhorns? We have partnered with Alamo Drafthouse and their Rolling Road Show to simulcast the UT – Texas Tech rivalry from Lubbock on a 40’ Screen, without a doubt the biggest game-watching party in Austin. This inaugural event will certainly become a new staple in Austin’s annual calendar of events so come be a part of history.
SMAF will be a family friendly party that reflects the values and spirit of Austin.
•A FREE! event for All Ages (VIP Access available)
•A green event implementing solar power, recycling, & composting to minimize environmental impact
•Various children’s activities, diaper changing stations, and other considerations so the whole family can enjoy.
•HD Simulcast of Texas-Texas Tech live from Lubbock on a giant 40’screen with surround sound
•Expected attendance is 5,000-10,000 people over the course of the day.
•40+ of Austin’s favorite shops, boutiques, and artisans
•10+ musical acts and DJ’s comprised of the regions top artists to perform live
•Art Installations and performance artists to inspire and reflect our vibrant creative culture in Austin
The Seaholm District Music & Arts Fair will be centered not at the power plant but at what will become the gateway to the Seaholm District redevelopment located at the corner of 3rd
•Easily accessible by bike or by foot from anywhere in the downtown area and Nueces and serves as the perfect locale for our inaugural street fair. The intersection provides a large, versatile venue on two dead end streets allowing ample space with multiple entertainment centers for various activities with large organized vending, all with little to no impact on through traffic.
•Free bicycle valet service provided by Mellow Johnny’s
•Substantial parking is available in the state garage and pay lots on San Antonio
•Musical backdrop is famous local artist, La Paso’s kinetic guitar sculpture and palm tree garden
Benefiting Dell Children’s Hospital - In addition to an event of the city, by the city, for the city, the festival has partnered with Dell Children’s Hospital. An incredible organization focused on unsurpassed pediatric care without regard for the child's ability to pay for services. Portions of the proceeds of SMAF will go to support the hospital's mission to serve the sick and injured children in the Central Texas 46-county region.
AUGUST 2010
Would you ever tour in a band with your ex? Just the two of you singing songs about each other and traveling
side by side in a van, mile after mile… and yes, sleeping in the same hotel room. Smile Smile does just that.
How does it work? Ryan describes it best: “Jencey and I met a few years ago, dated, fell in love, wrote
some songs, started our band Smile Smile, made our first record, Blue Roses, and got engaged to be married.
We had a home, a life and were making plans for our future together. To say the least, that didn’t really go as
planned. We broke up.
I remember writing and recording alone in the house that we used to live in. We weren’t really speaking, so I
would send Jencey songs via email. Originally it was to show her how much I was hurting. I was such a mess
at that point, putting these ‘break up’ songs on a record hadn’t really crossed my mind. I didn’t realize how
much Truth On Tape told our story. Its like a journal put to music, literally. These songs take honesty to an uncomfortable level. I think that’s because what I was going through was so intense and difficult. I’m not sure
how we made it through. I’m not sure how Jencey managed to look at these songs constructively and add her
parts and musical opinion. I’m REALLY not sure how we salvaged some sort of workable musical relationship
and put these songs on a record.
We’ve had some time to heal and get over what happened but these songs are still hard to listen to and perform.
Songs like, “Beg You To Stay” or “Somebody Else” take me back to a place when things really started going wrong.
I hear others like “The Attic” and “Truth On Tape” and remember how difficult it was to separate our things,
move out and move on. This record is a break up record. It’s OUR story and it’s true.”
Smile Smile just wrapped up a tour with Steve Poltz and will be heading out on the road again with Bob Schneider.
The band has also toured in the past with such diverse artists as Mat Kearney, Metric, Loretta Lynn, Bowling for Soup
and Simple Plan.

Vote for RajiWorld to be Panelists at SXSW 2011! Go to the SXSW website and search for our panel "Fresh Blood" and give us a Thumbs Up! You may have to create a free account, but it will only take a minute, and your support means the world to us!
Employers increasingly expect experience for entry-level positions. The current state of the economy has opened a floodgate of interns bringing the good, the bad and the ugly to the music business. This informative panel will give you the tools you need to make the most out of music business internships as intern or as an employer, and advice on how to avoid the pitfalls. To inspire job seekers we plan to make the session a social experience, giving attendees a chance to 'speed network' and walk away with connections as well as knowledge and information.
And we are actually in the process of selecting 3 new interns to help with RajiWorld's SXSW 2011 events. Email us here.

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new RajiWorld photographer, Christopher Durst. He will be shooting our events and is available to hire for yours as well (you can thank us later), he loves to travel and document music history.
Christopher specializes in all facets of entertainment photography. His unique and photojournalistic approach has given him the opportunity to photograph some of the most recognized names in alternative, country, electronic, and rock music.
Originally a Texas native, Christopher lived on the West Coast for nearly eighteen years where he made a name for himself in major markets such as Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Christopher recently relocated back to Austin, Texas where he has quickly developed a loyal clientele base comprised of musicians, entertainers, models, and creative entrepreneurs. Here is a live shot taken last month at Continental Club , the most challenging room in town for most photographers.

Although his creative passion is shooting live performance and high impact media imagery for musicians and entertainers, Christopher is also recognized for his talents as a lifestyle and modeling photographer. His unique ability to produce timeless artistic imagery has made him a favorite with clients seeking a more creative alternative to their photography needs; it has also brought him world-wide fans for his extensive series pieces and fine art print work.

RICHARD BARONE IS BACK WITH TONY VISCONTI-PRODUCED NEW ALBUM, 'GLOW,' ON BAR/NONE RECORDS
OUT SEPTEMBER 14
Glow, the new album from Richard Barone, frontman of cult faves the Bongos, is a sonic delight, like a lost solo Beatle album from a glam-rock future-world. After taking a break from performing to produce others and write a book Barone is back, working with producer Tony Visconti (along with Steve Addabbo, Jill Sobule and others). Glow indeed glows with songs like “Gravity’s Pull,” “Yet Another Midnight” and a captivating cover of T. Rex’s “Girl.” The king of chamber pop shines on this stunning new addition to his catalog. The recording on Bar/None Records will ship on September 14, 2010.
In the last decade Barone has worn many hats, writing with others and producing large musical events. Moby recently got involved with a re-mix of the Bongos classic track “Bulrushes.” And the B-52s’ Fred Schneider has tapped him to produce, arrange and co-write on numerous occasions. Tom Moon on NPR said, “Barone knows the alchemic formula for converting an everyday thought into a powerful refrain.” Now he moves on with Glow, a singular burst of optimism with the power of a sunset and the sunrise that follows.
We are absolutely giddy to welcome The Fleshtones back to TX! They fly in for an in-store at Waterloo Records Wednesday at 5 PM

Fleshtones, The Ugly Beats, and Danny B. Harvey at Continental Club
A rollicking fun-time band that’s been greasing garage-rock gears since 1976, The Fleshtones blurt through a mishmash of primal influences, from surf-pop to Nuggets-era proto-punk and back again. 2008's Take A Good Look continued a hot streak that began with 2003’s Do You Swing?, whooping it up with retro shout-along anthems that zip by with crazy-charged energy. The band has spent the last two years spreading the good news of its "super pop" across the globe, receiving a cinematic tribute in 2009 in the form of the documentary Pardon Us For Living, But The Graveyard Is Full. The Ugly Beats' everlasting sock-hop twists to hooks as sweet and timeless as The Fleshtones', while journeyman guitarist Danny B. Harvey crashes into the Continental on twin waves of twang and tremolo.

NOW BOOKING

Like a Texas-California combo plate, the BlueBonnets serve up a set of glamorous glitter blues rock complimented with layered girl group harmonies. There is a rough garage band energy to the songs, songs that are held together by tight arrangements and stylistic guitar interplay, solid grooves, and unforgettable melodies. The band formed in 2007, as a restructuring of a former line-up that began in Los Angeles in the 90's. When Go-Go Kathy Valentine returned to live in her home town of Austin, she decided the city was the perfect place to re-introduce the band that she and Dominique Davalos had conceived when they first began their long musical partnership. The BlueBonnets put a feminine slant on on blues based rock n roll yet cannot fall neatly into any musical category. They have been chosen to share the bill with the royalty of Austin's music scene: Arc Angels, Bob Schneider, the Scabs, Jimmie Vaughan, Guy Forsythe, Storyville, Lou Anne Barton, and Carolyn Wonderland amongst many others. In 2010 the BlueBonnets will release their first ever CD and are surely set to be one of the star jewels in Austin's musical crown :)
The BlueBonnets are:
KATHY VALENTINE - guitar & vocals
DOMINIQUE DAVALOS - bass & vocals
EVE MONSEES - guitar & vocals
KRISTY MCINNIS - drums & vocals

MAY 2010
The Sessions is doing a tour modeled after the Hotel Cafe Tour where they are bringing four of their favorite artists out to the East Coast and we are helping to book it and proud that it features Danny Malone!
The Sessions Tour
In the spring of 2009, two twenty-somethings stumbled into a vacant theater in the back of a coffee house in downtown Austin. They stood on the dimly lit stage and decided to throw a show in the small theater. One show turned into two and the shows started being referred to as The Sessions (www.thesessions.com). Mixing the closeness of a living room conversation with the intensity of a live concert, The Sessions has played host to over 60 international songwriters and bands over the past year. The Sessions takes their concept on the road featuring the collaborative effort of artists Danny Malone, Aimee Bobruk, Denitia Odigie, and CJ Vinson. The Sessions Tour will see these solo artists ebb and flow between their individual work and the collective sounds of performing together, merging their distinctive styles on the common thread of intimacy, sincerity, and authenticity.

The Sessions Tour presents:
DANNY MALONE
Danny Malone's sound has been described as indie/folk/alt country, but like most true contemporary artists, his sound defies categorization; it is all his own. Pitched high and fragile, his voice quakes with an urgent sincerity. It has a range including the playfulness of a Connor Oberst and the power of a Jimmy Gnecco. Whether in the studio or on the stage, Danny Malone has an uncanny ability to capture the sweetness and tragedy of life, oftentimes in the same song.
AIMEE BOBRUK
In what she terms indie/ambient/folk/rock Aimee Bobruk presents listeners with rich orchestral melodies, crisp lyrical images, and combines non-traditional instrumentation with ambient textures. Most often, compared to Margo Timmins of The Cowboy Junkies, Bobruk entertains a modern pop edge in combination with her confidently sensuous voice. The result is what Brad Houser, from the New Bohemians calls "hauntingly beautiful."
DENITIA ODIGIE
"The Next Big Musical Acts to Come out of SXSW: Denitia Odigie is the beautifully comfortable mesh of Corinne Bailey Rae and Nneka on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Her heartfelt vocals dance effortlessly on top of crisp complex Neo-soul arrangements. Denitia is signed to the same publishing company as Jace Everrett (performer of the Trueblood theme song), so we can all expect to see big things in Ms. Odigie's bright and soulful future. " Denitia's brand new full length debut album, Vitality, merges elements of modern rock, soul, and R&B in a way that is both refreshing and haunting, creating a feel simultaneously hypnotizing and completely awakening.
CJ VINSON
CJ Vinson's music is an energetic mix of the folk styles of Bob Dylan, songwriting of Ryan Adams, and enthusiastic spontaneity of Dave Matthews. After making his way through the songwriting gauntlet of songwriting circles at New York’s Bitter End and weekly gigs at The National Underground, he settled into a group (The CJ Vinson Band) which was a regular on the New York Scene and won the New York Heat Seeker’s People’s Choice award for “Best New Underground Rock Band in New York” in 2008. Since leaving The Lower East Side, CJ has co-found The Sessions Music, opened a studio and continues to play and record in Austin TX.
APRIL 2010

We have just added the lovely Smile Smile to our roster for booking and are hand picking the best rooms in the US to build their history with. They have great management, label support, radio promoters, street team, posters and publicists. Remember these days in the music business? We think they are coming back and stronger then ever...
Brought to us by our pal Bob Schneider who knows a little about doing things right and whom the duo frequently supports on the road they bring something new to the Dallas music scene. Jencey's classical piano background teamed with Ryan's self-taught guitar style combine to create sounds which both soar above you and pull you in tight at the same time.
"A sort of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/Mazzy Star hybrid of sing-along folk, buzzy country-leaning tunes and up tempo/down tempo swings, with brilliantly unconventional songwriting and smart harmonies anchoring the whole deal." Dallas Observer
Become a fan on Facebook and see videos and participate in kookie contests with the band

Speaking of video I have a favorite creator/ maker/ genius in this art form and she has favored Danny Malone and in one click of this link you will have a favorite new video and soon a favorite new performer at your favorite venue in your home town - promise

A pretty often shared secret is that I adored the 80's, It was my musical coming of age and one of the bands I loved best for their groundbreaking sounds combined with swiping what I loved from the last two generations of music and fashion was seminal Punk/ New Wave group Richard Hell and the Voidoids. And Ivan Julian has saved the best of that world in the details but definitely added to it with his own pioneering guitar sounds to bring you the future of a great rock and roll club show. Booking him now with his wild power-trio Capsula from Spain through December in the states so let's get a date on the books today.
MARCH 2010
SXSW Austin Music Awards took a new twist for me this year as Brandi Cowley and I debuted World Beauty, an agency representing hair, make up and wardrobe artists for events. Our debut event was backstage at the music awards and much of it is documented here by the talented Mark Guerra, a photographer hand picked by Brandi. To me Music IS beauty so no chance it will fall to the background. As always we are proud of our "winners".
Congratulations to Austin Texas's BEST INSTRUMENTAL BAND McLemore Avenue!

We are over the moon to share them with you for your next event! You will see them at our 12th annual SXSW day party, this year being called RajiWorld + Some (instead of +1) as we have fallen for too many new bands this month! And it is the month that houses Valentine's Day so we thought you would forgive us our new crushes and just join us in the fun with them in March.
JANUARY 2010!
Join me and your community in breathing a new life into Dr. Martin Luther King's words by helping others in our world live their own dreams of freedom. We can do it if we all stick together!
.jpg)
Have you been considering a career change into the music business? You can join me for a few days at work and see if it is for you. “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” ~ Buddha.
I have a few favorite sites that remind me why I love my work and my clients and creating this flow of new fans and new work every day! This one is from ZenHabits "Every year, January brings renewed optimism for change, for a better life, for a better you. And that’s a wonderful thing. It’s wonderful, because this fresh start gives us a chance to reinvent our lives and ourselves. It allows us to reinvigorate ourselves, to shed the baggage of the previous year and do anything. Anything is possible!
On that note, Something I am incredibly excited to be working on right now is taking Billy Harvey's life-changing documentary film, songs and inspirational Q and A on the road. We are specifically targeting colleges and churches and it is with great pride that I invite you to experience one of my favorite artist stories out there.

My client, Billy Harvey, bought a gold 1981 Mercedes diesel on eBay in 14 seconds. Soon after, the unconventional environmentally friendly singer/songwriter converted it to run on waste vegetable oil. The plan was to take it on a tour across America traveling all 7,000 plus miles on the, "alternative fuel". What followed was a near epic journey of endurance and self-discovery that was both beautiful, and at times harrowing. Filmed entirely on his laptop camera, Harvey intimately chronicled this fantastic adventure of spirit. From crossing the continental divide on a sheet of ice to digging through oil dumpsters in the freezing cold, to all night drives deprived of any sleep. You will laugh, you will cry you will be kinder to your french fries…and maybe yourself.
