PETER CASE & PAUL COLLINS REUNITE FOR A SPECIAL FULL-BAND SPRING 2012 TOUR, WHERE THE TWO WILL BE PERFORMING SONGS FROM THEIR BACK CATALOGS WITH THE NERVES, THE BREAKAWAYS, THE PLIMSOULS AND THE BEAT!
THE PLIMSOULS TO RELEASE NEW BEACH TOWN CONFIDENTIAL LIVE LP FEB. 7TH ON ALIVE RECORDS!
The Plimsouls embodied rock & roll in its purest, undistilled form in the era when post-punk droned and new wave popped. Whether on record or onstage, this foursome unleashed urgent, white-hot performances of expertly constructed songs by frontman Peter Case that effortlessly straddled the perfection of British Invasion pop, the raucous, edgier side of early punk and garage rock, and the foundational elements of maximum R&B and wailing soul.
All of this is documented perfectly in one moment – or one night as the case may be - on the latest Plimsouls live album, Beach Town Confidential. Recorded at the height of their onstage power at The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, CA on August 13, 1983, this recording captures Peter Case, Eddie Muñoz, Dave Pahoa and Louie Ramírez ripping through these 16 tracks with a youthful and reckless abandon. Six of these songs have never been recorded before by The Plimsouls (“Making Time,” “Fall On You,” “The Price Of Love,” “Who’s Gonna Break The Ice?,” “Jumpin’ In The Night” and “You Can’t Judge A Book”), plus it also features the only live recordings of “Magic Touch,” “Oldest Story In The World” and “Hobo.”
The Plimsouls’ Beach Town Confidential was produced by Peter Case and mixed by Peter and Andrew Bush. It will be released Feb. 7, 2012 though Alive Naturalsound Records on LTD. Edition Vinyl (w/ mp3 download card), CD and Digital formats. In addition, Alive is also producing an extremely limited run of 200 pink vinyl LPs (w/ download card) exclusive to mail orders only.
Prior to Peter Case forming The Plimsouls, he was part of two other influential mid-to-late '70s bands with Paul Collins – The Nerves and The Breakaways (Paul would later go on to form his own highly-respected group, The Beat). Both Peter and Paul have enjoyed successful solo careers on record and on the road, but this spring they’ll once again be reunited for a very special North American tour. The two frontmen (along with bassist Timm Buechler and drummer Amos Pitsch) will be performing classic numbers by their bands, The Nerves and The Breakaways, as well as material by The Plimsouls and The Beat. For fans of energetic live performances, visceral rock & roll, and raucous, hook-laden songs that draw as much from the golden age of '60s pop as they do from punk, these shows should prove to be nothing short of nirvana.

Prior to Peter Case forming The Plimsouls, he was also part of two other influential first-era powerpop bands with Paul Collins – The Nerves and The Breakaways (Paul would later go on to form his own highly-respected powerpop group The Beat). Beyond all of these band efforts both Peter and Paul have enjoyed successful solo careers for years on record and on the road, but this spring they’ll once again be reuniting for a very special North American tour. The duo will be performing songs from their previous bands together - The Nerves and The Breakaways, as well as material from The Plimsouls and The Beat. For fans of powerpop, energetic live performances and visceral rock & roll these shows should prove to be nothing short of nirvana.

Croce, Akina Adderley & the Vintage Playboys, The Art, Edison Chair, Julie Christensen and Smile Smile! SXSW 2012 will feature a very diverse mix this year from all over the world and we look forward to welcoming you and yours to Austin.
Finding this vintage office holiday card today has really made me grateful for all of the clients, staff, fans, presenters and media who have enabled us to keep going all of these years! What a blessing you each are to me and RajiWorld.

OCTOBER 2011
Congratulations go out to long -time client Billy Harvey, Harvey stars in the Mark Dennis/Ben Foster dramatic thriller, “Strings,” a film that has already become a festival sensation, scoring the prestigious Ensemble Award, Audience Award and Best Song nod (for Harvey’s original tune, “The Greatest Escape”) at the Breckenridge Festival of Film in Colorado. For a quick look at the trailer, visit .The movie explores the life of a musician (Harvey) who submits to experimental psycho therapy only to discover that part of his transformation involves his becoming part of an extremist vigilante group. Harvey’s “Greatest Escape” is featured on his current CD, “The Everlasting War.”

This March to follow the release of The Plimsouls "Live from The Golden Bear" I am booking what promises to be the perfect show to blend your desire for the favorites you came up with and the influences of the very hot current garage/ punk scene.

We have handpicked the right room in every market for this full electric band tour featuring Peter Case with Paul Collins! Peter Case and Paul Collins play the songs of The Nerves, Plimsouls, Breakaways and The Beat. To coincide with this tour, Alive Recordings will release a Plimsouls "Live From The Golden Bear" in February 2012. Alive has previously released Plimsouls, Nerves, Breakaways and Paul Collins albums and will be very involved in helping to promote these shows.
In 1975 Peter and Paul first worked together in the now legendary band The Nerves, the band that spawned number one hits like “Hanging on the Telephone” for Blondie and “Come Back Stay” for Paul Young. The Nerves were trails blazers from their beginnings in San Francisco when they recorded their now collector’s item EP.
With the demise of The Nerves Peter and Paul carried on briefly with The Breakaways which spring boarded them into their own separate but equally influential bands…The Plimsouls (Peter Case) and The Beat (Paul Collins) which effectively defined the power pop scene in Los Angeles and America circa 1980.
For the very first time since The Nerves Peter and Paul will perform all the hits from The Nerves, The Plimsouls and The Beat
SEPTEMBER 2011
We'd like to start off this month's letter by saying how heartbroken we are about the wildfires that continue to rage across the state of Texas, and how proud we are that the city of Austin has come together and organized a number of fire relief efforts for the victims. Whether you're able to donate time, food and clothing or money, there's an organization that will happily welcome your involvement. Below are a few ways you can help:
The Austin Disaster Relief Network is accepting volunteers, cash, in kind donations of goods including diapers, nonperishable food, trash cans and bags, pet kennels, children's items, clorox wipes, work gloves, Gatorade and water. Donation drop-off locations can be found at this link.
Austin Pets Alive is in dire need of supplies and cash donations for medical care for their efforts to help the four-legged victims of the fires. APA is taking in animals from Bastrop shelters as well as rescuing pets that have been trapped in abandoned homes - these folks do amazing work to keep Austin a humane, safe place for homeless pets, and any help you can offer will aid in saving an animal's life. For additional info about pets affected by the fires, check out Wildfire Pet Rescue.
And as we found ACL is NO-SMOKING this year everyone can do something to help as fire effects us all. The energy that stirs things up reminded me of a quote and I realize you are not all Shakespeare fans but "O! for a muse of fire, that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention". We do go into over-drive in times like this and we do make new friends and community, find new skills and I want to say how much depth I see in our city in this way.
We are proud of our manifestations this summer in bringing the right new clients and venues into the family and we want to share them with you as fans, media and buyers. We are in the thick of holiday booking and SXSW party booking and would love to book yours. World Beauty was requested by C3 to handle a headliner this year and I am happy to add some new and incredible talent to that pool this week. Some of my favorite people have once again chosen Austin as home and will be at our finger-tips to add a sparkle to your film, video, photo shoot, party or festival. World Beauty is proud to supply ACL and Kayne West with hair, make up and wardrobe. Hope to see you there!
RajiWorld has settled into the new office location and we are ready to channel new energy from a new space into making the upcoming fall season our best yet. Our clients are up to tremendous things and we're thrilled to share the news with you:
The brilliant Grammy-nominated artist Miles Zuniga is releasing his first solo album, These Ghosts Have Bones on September 27, and will be on the road throughout the fall to promote the album, which he financed by raising $27,000 on Kickstarter. Fans love Miles Zuniga, and so does the music community - he has been handpicked by Matthew Sweet to join a selection of Sweet's October tour dates, and will also be performing with John Oates at Austin's One World Theatre on November 1. Check out his upcoming tour dates here, and get a preview of the new album with a free download of "Marfa Moonlight" from his official site.
It's coming out on 33 1/3 and will be distributed by Redeye. We are booking dates to begin in TX and hit the US for the remainder of the year and Miles is also available for private appearances.

AUGUST 2011
We are settling into our new offices nicely back in 78704 and it just feels more Rock....We are also interviewing interns this month so expect to see some new faces at RajiWorld events soon. We have also expanded to include, once again, a wonderful visual artist. Tom Runkle helped contribute to RajiWorld with his Jimi Hendrix (Music to Mirrors and not well photographed but amazing in person so come visit) and this led to a great partnership and I was able to get his Pinetop and Clifford to Susan Antone as a gift for the club and James McMurtry and Dale Watson to Steve Wertheimer.

He will show at our home away from home Continental Club this spring but to check his work sooner. Two shows are coming up, the first being at the Southspace Gallery, which is located inside the Community Renaissance Market, at William Cannon and Westgate. It is Saturday August 13, at 6:00 PM and the next show will be at Thunderbird Coffee on Manor, on September 2, 6:00-9:00. Tom will be showing there for the month of September, and will feature some of the headliners at ACL.
JULY 2011
It has been a very busy summer! Iceland was incredible and I have, since my return, connected with some very big names in Icelandic music, my goal is to help form a
partnership with that wonderful country and Texas artists who seem to share the same core ideas but could each use a change of pace weather-wise!
I am blessed to be working on projects yielding great results and I have received some wonderful accolades from my clients this month. It is so nice to be appreciated for the hard work we all do!
We could not do it without a long time mutual respect with our venues (and buyers) and the media. Thank you for your help!
We are moving this month! You know how dear the Seaholm Power Plant is to my heart and with it's development it is time for us to move back to the peaceful heart of South Austin's 78704.
Our new address is 1307 Kinney Avenue, Number 122, 78704
We have added some dream clients to our roster and would like to introduce you now, I is a great mix of the new and developing and the established and influential and if you know me you know that circle of life is my favorite! When an artist creates they bring in their own influence and individual stamp and those paying attention connect and can share that art
even further, It is a constant flow and so exciting to be in the midst of. July has brought up some very creative ideas from our longtime favorites too so look for news, new projects in
and out of live music and also new music soon from A.J. Croce , Al Kooper, Billy Harvey and Steve Poltz.
Here is a taste of a new column from Al's world, enjoy!
Please welcome AKINA ADDERLEY & THE VINTAGE PLAYBOYS !

by Shana Berenzweig Photography
Front woman, vocalist, primary songwriter and band leader Akina Adderley lights up the stage as the Little Woman with the Big Voice. Her powerful presence is irresistible, and KUT 90.5 FM declared her "phenomenal vocals call to mind the sounds of classic soul and R&B." Granddaughter of jazz trumpeter Nat Adderley, grandniece of jazz saxophonist "Cannonball" Adderley, and daughter of Nat Adderley, Jr. (producer/pianist/band leader for Luther Vandross), Akina brings a distinguished musical pedigree to the Vintage Playboys, who are a tight group of players from an eclectic musical background.
JUNE 2011

A.J. Croce is working on several projects which deserve our attention this year. He will be touring his father Jim Croce's material for the first time in a high concept theater performance and also his own latest release Cage of Muses” which marks the eighth release by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist A.J. Croce. If you are tired of slick, mindless pop, this may be the album you have been waiting for. “Cage of Muses” was recorded live at The Boat in Silverlake over three days. Due to the fact that A.J. sang and played live, and the best take is what ended up on the final recording. Croce took on production duties, and spent months organizing songs, choosing the right musicians and arranging, so that when the tape started rolling the outcome would be successful.
“This is my first concept album “ Croce says. “These songs were all muses that I had held, in some cases for many years”. He continues,” While the music is electric, the songs themselves tell a story about the world we live in”, Each is from a different perspective”, Croce pauses, and “You may find that after listening to the album a second or third time that what you thought was a love song is actually about politics, religion or the environment”, A.J. adds, “A simple song is beautiful. When, as a songwriter I can find a way to add depth to simplicity, then I feel a true sense of accomplishment”.
The title” Cage of Muses”, Croce explains “Was to me poetic. Anything can be a cage of muses, a pen, a blank canvas, your computer or my music”, pausing A.J. adds.,”The original ‘Cage Of Muses’ was the library in Alexandria, Egypt. Philosophers and priests, as I understand referred to the building which housed the largest collection of knowledge in the ancient world as a “cage of muses’”.
In addition to being a performing artist, A.J. Croce also heads Seedling Records, and is involved in it’s day-to-day operations. Based in Nashville, Croce works as a songwriter and a session musician.
The studio Band:
A.J. Croce – Piano, Guitar, Organ, Vocals
Davey Faragher – Bass
Greg Leisz – Pedal Steel, Lap Steel, Weisenborn, Mandolin
Brian Macleod – Drums, Percussion
Michael Bizar – Guitar, Bass

In addition to being the perfect event to hold at the power plant, it is a benefit for Anthropos Arts
Anthropos Arts is an Austin-based nonprofit organization, working primarily in the East Austin community to bring top professional musicians into Title I, low-income middle and high schools to offer free music lessons, workshops, master classes, and performance opportunities to economically disadvantaged youth giving them an outlet and pathways to scholarships and a brighter future.
The Concept: What classic rock music fan hasn’t looked up at the smokestacks at Seaholm Power Plant and envisioned a pink pig flying above? We at The Electric Company could not let the small window of opportunity left for shows at Seaholm go by without bringing that vision to life. This epic Pink Floyd tribute for the ages will recreate the live Pink Floyd experience, completed by an amazing light show from ILIOS Lighting, top-flight sound, and special effects.
The Band Recreating a Pink Floyd sonic experience is ambitious to say the least. Some of Austin’s best studio and touring musicians have been recruited to the project to recreate a 2-set show of Pink Floyd consisting of material from the full career of Pink Floyd complete with the favorites as well as deep tracks rarely or never played live. The music director, Chris Maresh, has a
multitude of his own honors, albums, and tours under his belt and has pieced together a collective of musicians who are some of the most technically capable musicians at their instruments you can find, all with their own share of accolades.
Music Director & Bass : Chris Maresh
Guitar 1 : Ullrich Ellison
Guitar 2 : Jake Langely
Keyboard 1 : Stefano Intelisano
Keyboard 2 : Dustin Bozarth
Drums : Bryan Austin
Sax : Topaz
The Vocals: In keeping with the concept and theme of Which One’s Pink, we will be using several of Austin’s best singers including RajiWorld clients Billy Harvey and Teal Collins Zee who will perform 1-4 tracks each. Expect a lot of surprises and unannounced special guests.

APRIL 2011
Old Settlers Festival was great this year and when the Avett Brothers canceled we were able to add The Mother Truckers. They sure made us proud!

As an early collector of vinyl I am a big supporter of record store day for personal reasons but as a music business owner I am a very supporter and I hope you are too. It is the best! Record Store Day is an internationally celebrated day observed the third Saturday of April each year. Its purpose, as conceived by independent record store employee Chris Brown, is to celebrate the art of music. The day brings together fans, artists, and the over 700 independently owned record stores in the United States, along with hundreds of independent record stores across the world.

CD Review:
Ivan Julian's Latest Solo Release "The Naked Flame"

Musician Ivan Julian is releasing his first collection of new songs in over 20 years. The new album entitled "The Naked Flame" will be out on March 29 on 00:02:59 Records. Julian was a founding member of Richard Hell & the Voidoids and has also worked with Matthew Sweet and The Clash. The sound on his new album is very energetic with an almost mature punk feel to the songs.
The album proudly displays Julian's love for performing. You can hear the passion in his voice as he strains to express the lyrics of "The Waves". "A Young Man's Money" sounds like Iggy Pop meets the Sex Pistols with its raw electrical charge. Ivan Julian shows his maturity on "Hardwired" sticking to a more mainstream attempt that keeps you wanting more. "That Look" carries a funky beat that gives the song a 70's vibe. Julian experiments with his sound on "The Beat" and pulls off his Mick Jagger sound-alike in "Sticky", but has the most fun with "You Is Dead".
Ivan Julian just wrapped up a performance at the SXSW festival and will be hosting a record release party on April 4th and the Bowery Electric in New York City.
We hope you had a killer SXSW. Enjoy our recap and please forward us any press, picture or video content you may have to share with our clients and their fans. We have a place on our website for photos and it is time for me to update it with your help.
We kicked off this year's festival with some great memories courtesy of the past 25 years (22 of which I have been a part of) in Michael Corcoran's piece on the front page of the Statesman.
The week began early with Hall of Fame and new friends in film, I had fun out and about with new friends Georgina, Kym and Gracie, Danny Devito and a private audience with John Corbett for Laurel. I was able to catch The Foo Fighter show which was a high point shared with Kris, Erika, Glen and Dave Grohl! (just not the way insinuated here!).
John Leo caught Jack White in a parking lot so we came into our events very excited.
Wednesday I continued one of my favorite SXSW traditions of participating in a mentor session with new and old friends.
Saturday two very glamorous events took place carrying our World Beauty for RajiWorld touch. SXSW debuted STYLE X, a fashion show for everyone with no badges and wristbands required and the 30th!! Austin Music Awards which is also open to the public and in which my daughter plays a big role as Margaret Moser's assistant and "flower girl". This year we added two new salons to create unique looks for the show and they went beyond beautiful, Thank you to both teams led by my personal stylists Gracie Silvas for Bella Salon Style Team and Brandi Cowley at Propanada Hair Group.
Having our 2011 showcase at The world famous Continental Club was a dream come true! thanks to Brad, Steve, Dianne, Rob, Jamie, Jason, John Leo and Rachael as well as our wonderful SXSW stage crew led by Bill Burbach.
We are booking follow up dates all over the country now for each of these artists.
Having our 2011 showcase at The world famous Continental Club is a dream come true! This room has been featured in movies like the Willie Nelson/ Kris Kristofferson classic The Songwriter which I re-watched last night.
The Granddaddy of all local music venues, the Continental Club has enjoyed a coast-to-coast reputation as the premiere club for live music in Austin since 1955.

Red Red Records Signs Distribution Deal With Brody Distribution Group and in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Val Garay (James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt and Kim Carnes) and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Bonnie Hayes (Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Natalie Cole) Katrina brings us her stunning debut album, In the Blink of an Eye on a very exciting new record label Red Red Records.
George Woolverton, CEO of Red Red Records and Val Garay, President of the label today announced that the Los Angeles based record company have signed a distribution deal with Brody Distribution Group. Through this arrangement, Red Red Records will release all product through BDG, which is distributed by Red Distribution, LLC (a division of Sony Music Entertainment.)
Red Red Records was launched in Los Angeles, CA on November of 2010 as a partnership between Attorney George Woolverton and Grammy Winners Val Garay and John Kosh. Garay who serves as President of the label, is a music industry legend for his production and engineering work with James Taylor, Elton John, Bonnie Rait, Linda Ronstadt and Queensryche (amongst others) while John Kosh, former creative director for the Beatle's Apple Records, is the man behind iconic covers for the Beatles, The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt amongst others.
Red Red Records signing with BDG will commence with the release of "Shame On Me," the debut single from the artist Katrina. Her forthcoming CD In The Blink Of An Eye is collaboration with Garay and songwriter/multi instrumentalist Bonnie Hayes (Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Natalie Cole.) The album was recorded and mixed at Garay's Studio in Los Angeles & Hayes studio in San Rafael, CA and is set for release during the first quarter of 2011.
"Shame On Me" has shipped to Hot AC Radio for impact in late January. The radio campaign will be run by Bob Catania of Right Way Music Group. Katrina has recently been on the road doing set up work for the single and will be performing at live events this spring.
In making the announcement Woolverton and Garay stated: We are excited to be working with Brody Distribution Group and thrilled that Red Red Records will be able to release our unique and credible music through such an innovative and respected source. We are looking forward to a bright future and a long and successful relationship with BDG and Red Distribution LLC."
Comments Jeff Brody, CEO of Brody Distribution Group: I am thrilled to be working with Red Red Records. They combine the best of the old school in their philosophy with the best in today's music. I am very much looking forward to working with and launching their first artist Katrina.
I have been waiting to GO TO 11 for a long time and it just feels right! My other favorite number is 44 so I am tickled to present the following tour, booking now for dates like 4/11/11
4x4: Songs & Stories With Richard Barone, Steve Barton, Marvin Etzioni, and Ivan Julian is coming to your city on the East Coast 4/10-23 and West Coast 5/1-10.

RICHARD BARONE- Since his beginnings at age seven as “The Littlest DJ” on top-forty radio in Tampa, Florida, and later fronting Hoboken's indie-pop icons The Bongos, Richard Barone has produced countless studio recordings. He has collaborated with world-class artists in every musical genre - from Lou Reed and Moby to Liza Minnelli, Tiny Tim and most recently, the legendary Pete Seeger. As musical and theatrical director, he scores shows and stages all-star concert events at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and New York's Central Park. His memoir, 'Frontman: Surviving the Rock Star Myth' (Hal Leonard Books) was performed as a musical reading at Carnegie Hall. Barone's fifth solo album, Glow, produced by Tony Visconti and others, was just released on Bar/None Records. He is currently on tour in the US and UK.
STEVE BARTON is an American rock musician and songwriter best known for his work with the band Translator. The band had a deal with Howie Klein's 415 Records. They released four albums and the hit single written by Steve, "Everywhere That I'm Not" which was the most requested song on San Francisco radio station KUSF for six months after its release. Up-and-coming producer David Kahne oversaw the band’s first album Heartbeats and Triggers, which was notable for its blend of folk-rock guitars and thoughtful lyrics, delivered in a post-punk way. Their 3rd and 4th albums were produced by Ramones producer Ed Stasium. Steve hase released 5 solo albums, including the brand new album titled "Projector" which is made up of songs written in the immediate aftermath of his dad's passing.
MARVIN ETZIONI - There's country, there's alt. country and there's Marvin Country. It's a magical place, some way off the map, populated by back-porch philosophers, hobos, broken hearted lovers and spacemen, and presided over by the man the L.A Times called "one heck of a songwriter" and Billboard compared to Bob Dylan and John Lennon. Marvin's most covered song is "Can't Cry Hard Enough", originally recorded on his debut "The Mandolin Man".Marvin Country is the ambitious fourth solo album by a man already revered in Americana circles – among many things, he co-founded the pioneering L.A roots rock band Lone Justice, writing some of its finest songs including "east of eden" "working late" and "You are the light" (marvin has recut this one with the dixie hummingbirds). Other duets feature lucinda willliams, john doe, buddy miller, maria mckee and richard thompson. The 19 songs on this double CD are variously original, traditional, tender, quirky, emotional and wise. There’s backporch country, barroom weepers, clapboard-church gospel, haunting folk, dusty blues and songs for which a genre’s not yet been named. Etzioni is also a grammy, multi jammy, multi platinum producer/musician. Credits include Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Grey Delisle, Dixie Chicks, to name a few.
IVAN JULIAN - On his new album 'The Naked Flame', the legendary guitarist & vocalist Ivan Julian invokes the sounds of a scene that he was instrumental in creating as an original member with Richard Hell & The Voidoids, The Outsets and Lovelies. Ivan Julian continues to write and produce music at his analog tape/digital recording studio, NY HED where he has produced the last 3 Fleshtones LP’s, mastered Five Dollar Priest among others. His production skills have been praised being compared to George Clinton and Joe Boyd.

NOVEMBER 2010
PLEASE HELP US CONGRATULATE AL KOOPER ON HIS INDCUTION TO THE LONG ISLAND HALL OF FAME
November 16, 2010 - An eclectic assortment of artists from geographic Long Island were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame at a star-studded Gala at Oheka Castle, Tuesday night. The diverse group included Eric B. and Rakim, Lou Reed, John Zorn, Dream Theater, The Shangri-Las, the venue My Father’s Place, and Carole and Paula (TVs The Magic Garden).
The night kicked off with Joan Jett, who was the very first inductee into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006 inducting former WLIR program director Denis McNamara, “He is a man whose voice we all remember.” McNamara changed the face of music when he changed the format of WLIR from classic rock to new wave in 1982. Jett described, “Music in America would not be the same without Denis. I am proud to call him my friend.”

OCTOBER 2010
October is my favorite month and we are especially active in NYC and CA with a great official CMJ line- up at Bowery Electric that yielded this picture and these comments from the promoter and a fan.
"Dear Roggie:
Below are the numbers for the showcase tonight. It was a good attendance and everyone had a blast. The bands loved the club and the audience loved the bands! Ivan was incredible tonight."

What intrigues me most about the wonderful world of music is what has come before and what comes as a result, a flow of magic and connectivity like in the picture above with our beloved Fleshtones sharing the bill with our TX based up and coming darlings SMile Smile, and our partnership with the one and only Al Kooper for booking which came directly from some wonderful things long-time client Steve Poltz said about RajiWorld in print (scroll down just a little bit).
in a career that spans 50 years, (some highlights are documented at this link) Mr Kooper has managed to turn up at key points in the last five decades. In 1958, Koop began his professional career as guitarist in The Royal Teens ("Short Shorts"). He metamorphisized into a Tin Pan Alley songwriter with cuts by Gary Lewis, Gene Pitney, Keely Smith, Carmen MacRae, Pat Boone, Freddie Cannon, Lulu, Lorraine Ellison, Donnie Hathaway and later was sampled by The Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Pharcyde, and Alchemist to name but a few. In the mid-sixties, Al was a member of The Blues Project and then founded Blood Sweat & Tears, remaining only for their debut album "Child Is Father To The Man." He then slipped his producer hat on and began with the top ten album "SuperSession" in 1968 featuring Mike Bloomfield & Stephen Stills. He is well known for his organ playing on Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone." He played off & on with Dylan for many years, live and in the studio. His playing skills have graced the works of The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Paul & Mary, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, BB King, Taj Mahal, Alice Cooper, Roger McGuinn, Betty Wright, Trisha Yearwood, Tracy Nelson and scores more. Major moments include playing piano, organ and FRENCH HORN for The Rolling Stones on "You Cant Always Get What You Want," keyboards on George Harrison's #1 hit "All Those Years Ago," keys on "The Who Sell Out," and on "Electric Ladyland" for Jimi Hendrix.
As a producer he is best known for discovering Lynyrd Skynyrd and producing their first three albums including "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," "Gimme Three Steps," and "Saturday Night Special." His other producing clients included, The Tubes, Nils Lofgren, Eddie & The Hot Rods, Ray Charles, BB King, The Staple Singers, Lorraine Ellison, Bob Dylan, Joe Ely, Thelonious Monster and Green On Red. His autobiography "Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards" is considered by many to be a rock n roll must-read. He scored Hal Ashby's first film "The Landlord," John Waters film "Cry Baby," Michael Mann's TV series "Crime Story" and Peter Riegert's recent directorial debut "King Of The Corner."

His live show accompanied by his band of Berklee professors, "The Funky Faculty," has been acclaimed all over the USA and in Japan, Italy, Spain, Demark, Finland, Norway, The Czech Republic, with more countries lining up for for 2010. Al is also available solo for select theater and dinner shows and in a high energy Rock-a-billy trio

This is s exciting, 1. Because I adore reading Bob and 2. It was un-expected and hearing how my clients feel means the world to me.

Wow! You sure get a lot of action at your blog. Nice work creating a community.
I love playing at The Blue Door in Okc. One of my favorite rooms anywhere on the planet. I either go out for Oklahoma BBQ or Vietnamese Pho with Greg Johnson. We talk baseball and politics and music. He loves his Orioles. I look forward to my next gig there.
I'm pretty lucky. I've got friends all over the world who own music venues. I work 200 plus dates a year. It only comes from repetitive touring and giving 100% each night even if you're sick with the flu or have a broken hand. Meeting the people after every show and playing heaps of house concerts. It's not glamorous but it works. I travel with only one guy -Chris Modl, who records every show and we sell that show 15 minutes after the gig ends on CDs or 2 gig thumb drives.
I love my job. I'm like a traveling salesman. If I play a good show then people usually buy my wares. T-shirts etc. If I suck then I have no one to blame but me. I have no mgmt and only my own label 98 pounder records. I LOVE my booking agent Roggie out of Austin at Rajiworld. She has a great understanding of what I do. I have different agents I love in Australia and my homeland of Canada as well.
People who come to my shows aren't coming because I co wrote a hit song with Jewel. They're coming because there's a trust factor involved. That's why your letter speaks to me. It's a great time to be a musician. There's a revolution happening!
And you know it Mr Jones!
Peace be with you... And also with you.

Steve Poltz
Seaholm District Music & Arts Fair
Produced by The Electric Company
Saturday September 18, 2010
12:00 Noon – 10pm – 3rd and Nueces Streets Admission is !!!Free!!!
With: Papa Mali // Two Tons of Steel // The Happen Ins // Danny Malone
Moonlight Towers // The BlueBonnets // Hector Ward & The Big Time // The Motts // Eagle Eye Williamson

The city of Austin has designated the area from Lady Bird Lake to 5th Street and from Lamar to San Antonio as the Seaholm District. Over the next 20 years this former industrial village will complete it’s transformation from a utility zone to Austin’s most revered residential, cultural, and entertainment centers.
In accordance, Seaholm District Music and Arts Fair was put together to create a new festival that is a reflection of this up and coming and vibrant city center. For one night in September we will come together at 3rd and Nueces and celebrate all that makes Austin great. This event was conceived by a group of neighborhood business owners, community leaders, and residents, along with event producers, The Electric Company.
SMAF will feature all that we love about Austin – its great local music, delicious food, diverse artistic works highlighting Austin culture, and what fall Saturday would be complete without the Longhorns? We have partnered with Alamo Drafthouse and their Rolling Road Show to simulcast the UT – Texas Tech rivalry from Lubbock on a 40’ Screen, without a doubt the biggest game-watching party in Austin. This inaugural event will certainly become a new staple in Austin’s annual calendar of events so come be a part of history.
SMAF will be a family friendly party that reflects the values and spirit of Austin.
•A FREE! event for All Ages (VIP Access available)
•A green event implementing solar power, recycling, & composting to minimize environmental impact
•Various children’s activities, diaper changing stations, and other considerations so the whole family can enjoy.
•HD Simulcast of Texas-Texas Tech live from Lubbock on a giant 40’screen with surround sound
•Expected attendance is 5,000-10,000 people over the course of the day.
•40+ of Austin’s favorite shops, boutiques, and artisans
•10+ musical acts and DJ’s comprised of the regions top artists to perform live
•Art Installations and performance artists to inspire and reflect our vibrant creative culture in Austin
The Seaholm District Music & Arts Fair will be centered not at the power plant but at what will become the gateway to the Seaholm District redevelopment located at the corner of 3rd
•Easily accessible by bike or by foot from anywhere in the downtown area and Nueces and serves as the perfect locale for our inaugural street fair. The intersection provides a large, versatile venue on two dead end streets allowing ample space with multiple entertainment centers for various activities with large organized vending, all with little to no impact on through traffic.
•Free bicycle valet service provided by Mellow Johnny’s
•Substantial parking is available in the state garage and pay lots on San Antonio
•Musical backdrop is famous local artist, La Paso’s kinetic guitar sculpture and palm tree garden
Benefiting Dell Children’s Hospital - In addition to an event of the city, by the city, for the city, the festival has partnered with Dell Children’s Hospital. An incredible organization focused on unsurpassed pediatric care without regard for the child's ability to pay for services. Portions of the proceeds of SMAF will go to support the hospital's mission to serve the sick and injured children in the Central Texas 46-county region.
AUGUST 2010
Would you ever tour in a band with your ex? Just the two of you singing songs about each other and traveling
side by side in a van, mile after mile… and yes, sleeping in the same hotel room. Smile Smile does just that.
How does it work? Ryan describes it best: “Jencey and I met a few years ago, dated, fell in love, wrote
some songs, started our band Smile Smile, made our first record, Blue Roses, and got engaged to be married.
We had a home, a life and were making plans for our future together. To say the least, that didn’t really go as
planned. We broke up.
I remember writing and recording alone in the house that we used to live in. We weren't’t really speaking, so I
would send Jencey songs via email. Originally it was to show her how much I was hurting. I was such a mess
at that point, putting these ‘break up’ songs on a record hadn’t really crossed my mind. I didn’t realize how
much Truth On Tape told our story. Its like a journal put to music, literally. These songs take honesty to an uncomfortable level. I think that’s because what I was going through was so intense and difficult. I’m not sure
how we made it through. I’m not sure how Jencey managed to look at these songs constructively and add her
parts and musical opinion. I’m REALLY not sure how we salvaged some sort of workable musical relationship
and put these songs on a record.
We’ve had some time to heal and get over what happened but these songs are still hard to listen to and perform.
Songs like, “Beg You To Stay” or “Somebody Else” take me back to a place when things really started going wrong.
I hear others like “The Attic” and “Truth On Tape” and remember how difficult it was to separate our things,
move out and move on. This record is a break up record. It’s OUR story and it’s true.”
Smile Smile just wrapped up a tour with Steve Poltz and will be heading out on the road again with Bob Schneider.
The band has also toured in the past with such diverse artists as Mat Kearney, Metric, Loretta Lynn, Bowling for Soup
and Simple Plan.

Employers increasingly expect experience for entry-level positions. The current state of the economy has opened a floodgate of interns bringing the good, the bad and the ugly to the music business. This informative panel will give you the tools you need to make the most out of music business internships as intern or as an employer, and advice on how to avoid the pitfalls. To inspire job seekers we plan to make the session a social experience, giving attendees a chance to 'speed network' and walk away with connections as well as knowledge and information.
And we are actually in the process of selecting 3 new interns to help with RajiWorld's SXSW 2011 events. Email us here.

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new RajiWorld photographer, Christopher Durst. He will be shooting our events and is available to hire for yours as well (you can thank us later), he loves to travel and document music history.
Christopher specializes in all facets of entertainment photography. His unique and photojournalistic approach has given him the opportunity to photograph some of the most recognized names in alternative, country, electronic, and rock music.
Originally a Texas native, Christopher lived on the West Coast for nearly eighteen years where he made a name for himself in major markets such as Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Christopher recently relocated back to Austin, Texas where he has quickly developed a loyal clientele base comprised of musicians, entertainers, models, and creative entrepreneurs. Here is a live shot taken last month at Continental Club , the most challenging room in town for most photographers.

Although his creative passion is shooting live performance and high impact media imagery for musicians and entertainers, Christopher is also recognized for his talents as a lifestyle and modeling photographer. His unique ability to produce timeless artistic imagery has made him a favorite with clients seeking a more creative alternative to their photography needs; it has also brought him world-wide fans for his extensive series pieces and fine art print work.

RICHARD BARONE IS BACK WITH TONY VISCONTI-PRODUCED NEW ALBUM, 'GLOW,' ON BAR/NONE RECORDS
OUT SEPTEMBER 14
Glow, the new album from Richard Barone, frontman of cult faves the Bongos, is a sonic delight, like a lost solo Beatle album from a glam-rock future-world. After taking a break from performing to produce others and write a book Barone is back, working with producer Tony Visconti (along with Steve Addabbo, Jill Sobule and others). Glow indeed glows with songs like “Gravity’s Pull,” “Yet Another Midnight” and a captivating cover of T. Rex’s “Girl.” The king of chamber pop shines on this stunning new addition to his catalog. The recording on Bar/None Records will ship on September 14, 2010.
In the last decade Barone has worn many hats, writing with others and producing large musical events. Moby recently got involved with a re-mix of the Bongos classic track “Bulrushes.” And the B-52s’ Fred Schneider has tapped him to produce, arrange and co-write on numerous occasions. Tom Moon on NPR said, “Barone knows the alchemic formula for converting an everyday thought into a powerful refrain.” Now he moves on with Glow, a singular burst of optimism with the power of a sunset and the sunrise that follows.

Fleshtones, The Ugly Beats, and Danny B. Harvey at Continental Club
A rollicking fun-time band that’s been greasing garage-rock gears since 1976, The Fleshtones blurt through a mishmash of primal influences, from surf-pop to Nuggets-era proto-punk and back again. 2008's Take A Good Look continued a hot streak that began with 2003’s Do You Swing?, whooping it up with retro shout-along anthems that zip by with crazy-charged energy. The band has spent the last two years spreading the good news of its "super pop" across the globe, receiving a cinematic tribute in 2009 in the form of the documentary Pardon Us For Living, But The Graveyard Is Full. The Ugly Beats' everlasting sock-hop twists to hooks as sweet and timeless as The Fleshtones', while journeyman guitarist Danny B. Harvey crashes into the Continental on twin waves of twang and tremolo.

NOW BOOKING

Like a Texas-California combo plate, the BlueBonnets serve up a set of glamorous glitter blues rock complimented with layered girl group harmonies. There is a rough garage band energy to the songs, songs that are held together by tight arrangements and stylistic guitar interplay, solid grooves, and unforgettable melodies. The band formed in 2007, as a restructuring of a former line-up that began in Los Angeles in the 90's. When Go-Go Kathy Valentine returned to live in her home town of Austin, she decided the city was the perfect place to re-introduce the band that she and Dominique Davalos had conceived when they first began their long musical partnership. The BlueBonnets put a feminine slant on on blues based rock n roll yet cannot fall neatly into any musical category. They have been chosen to share the bill with the royalty of Austin's music scene: Arc Angels, Bob Schneider, the Scabs, Jimmie Vaughan, Guy Forsythe, Storyville, Lou Anne Barton, and Carolyn Wonderland amongst many others. In 2010 the BlueBonnets will release their first ever CD and are surely set to be one of the star jewels in Austin's musical crown :)
The BlueBonnets are:
KATHY VALENTINE - guitar & vocals
DOMINIQUE DAVALOS - bass & vocals
EVE MONSEES - guitar & vocals
KRISTY MCINNIS - drums & vocals

MAY 2010
The Sessions is doing a tour modeled after the Hotel Cafe Tour where they are bringing four of their favorite artists out to the East Coast and we are helping to book it and proud that it features Danny Malone!
The Sessions Tour
In the spring of 2009, two twenty-somethings stumbled into a vacant theater in the back of a coffee house in downtown Austin. They stood on the dimly lit stage and decided to throw a show in the small theater. One show turned into two and the shows started being referred to as The Sessions (www.thesessions.com). Mixing the closeness of a living room conversation with the intensity of a live concert, The Sessions has played host to over 60 international songwriters and bands over the past year. The Sessions takes their concept on the road featuring the collaborative effort of artists Danny Malone, Aimee Bobruk, Denitia Odigie, and CJ Vinson. The Sessions Tour will see these solo artists ebb and flow between their individual work and the collective sounds of performing together, merging their distinctive styles on the common thread of intimacy, sincerity, and authenticity.

The Sessions Tour presents:
DANNY MALONE
Danny Malone's sound has been described as indie/folk/alt country, but like most true contemporary artists, his sound defies categorization; it is all his own. Pitched high and fragile, his voice quakes with an urgent sincerity. It has a range including the playfulness of a Connor Oberst and the power of a Jimmy Gnecco. Whether in the studio or on the stage, Danny Malone has an uncanny ability to capture the sweetness and tragedy of life, oftentimes in the same song.
AIMEE BOBRUK
In what she terms indie/ambient/folk/rock Aimee Bobruk presents listeners with rich orchestral melodies, crisp lyrical images, and combines non-traditional instrumentation with ambient textures. Most often, compared to Margo Timmins of The Cowboy Junkies, Bobruk entertains a modern pop edge in combination with her confidently sensuous voice. The result is what Brad Houser, from the New Bohemians calls "hauntingly beautiful."
DENITIA ODIGIE
"The Next Big Musical Acts to Come out of SXSW: Denitia Odigie is the beautifully comfortable mesh of Corinne Bailey Rae and Nneka on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Her heartfelt vocals dance effortlessly on top of crisp complex Neo-soul arrangements. Denitia is signed to the same publishing company as Jace Everrett (performer of the Trueblood theme song), so we can all expect to see big things in Ms. Odigie's bright and soulful future. " Denitia's brand new full length debut album, Vitality, merges elements of modern rock, soul, and R&B in a way that is both refreshing and haunting, creating a feel simultaneously hypnotizing and completely awakening.
CJ VINSON
CJ Vinson's music is an energetic mix of the folk styles of Bob Dylan, songwriting of Ryan Adams, and enthusiastic spontaneity of Dave Matthews. After making his way through the songwriting gauntlet of songwriting circles at New York’s Bitter End and weekly gigs at The National Underground, he settled into a group (The CJ Vinson Band) which was a regular on the New York Scene and won the New York Heat Seeker’s People’s Choice award for “Best New Underground Rock Band in New York” in 2008. Since leaving The Lower East Side, CJ has co-found The Sessions Music, opened a studio and continues to play and record in Austin TX.
APRIL 2010

We have just added the lovely Smile Smile to our roster for booking and are hand picking the best rooms in the US to build their history with. They have great management, label support, radio promoters, street team, posters and publicists. Remember these days in the music business? We think they are coming back and stronger then ever...
Brought to us by our pal Bob Schneider who knows a little about doing things right and whom the duo frequently supports on the road they bring something new to the Dallas music scene. Jencey's classical piano background teamed with Ryan's self-taught guitar style combine to create sounds which both soar above you and pull you in tight at the same time.
"A sort of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/Mazzy Star hybrid of sing-along folk, buzzy country-leaning tunes and up tempo/down tempo swings, with brilliantly unconventional songwriting and smart harmonies anchoring the whole deal." Dallas Observer
Become a fan on Facebook and see videos and participate in kookie contests with the band

Speaking of video I have a favorite creator/ maker/ genius in this art form and she has favored Danny Malone and in one click of this link you will have a favorite new video and soon a favorite new performer at your favorite venue in your home town - promise

A pretty often shared secret is that I adored the 80's, It was my musical coming of age and one of the bands I loved best for their groundbreaking sounds combined with swiping what I loved from the last two generations of music and fashion was seminal Punk/ New Wave group Richard Hell and the Voidoids. And Ivan Julian has saved the best of that world in the details but definitely added to it with his own pioneering guitar sounds to bring you the future of a great rock and roll club show. Booking him now with his wild power-trio Capsula from Spain through December in the states so let's get a date on the books today.
MARCH 2010
SXSW Austin Music Awards took a new twist for me this year as Brandi Cowley and I debuted World Beauty, an agency representing hair, make up and wardrobe artists for events. Our debut event was backstage at the music awards and much of it is documented here by the talented Mark Guerra, a photographer hand picked by Brandi. To me Music IS beauty so no chance it will fall to the background. As always we are proud of our "winners".
Congratulations to Austin Texas's BEST INSTRUMENTAL BAND McLemore Avenue!

You will have a happy ending, He is the best storyteller in the US and Canada and as a dual citizen can play both. On his upcoming release Steve Poltz goes back to his birthplace of Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada and meets the Canadian award winning songwriter, producer and performer Joel Plaskett. The two form a strong bond and record Steve's newest album "Dreamhouse." Recorded analog on 16 track 2 inch tape they make Steve's finest offering yet. Filled with beautiful melodies and lush quirky arrangements mixed with stark haunting acoustic numbers the "Dreamhouse" sound will be released on vinyl and CD. We are over the moon to share them with you for your next event! You will see them at our 12th annual SXSW day party, this year being called RajiWorld + Some (instead of +1) as we have fallen for too many new bands this month! And it is the month that houses Valentine's Day so we thought you would forgive us our new crushes and just join us in the fun with them in March.
JANUARY 2010!
Join me and your community in breathing a new life into Dr. Martin Luther King's words by helping others in our world live their own dreams of freedom. We can do it if we all stick together!

Have you been considering a career change into the music business? You can join me for a few days at work and see if it is for you. “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” ~ Buddha.
I have a few favorite sites that remind me why I love my work and my clients and creating this flow of new fans and new work every day! This one is from ZenHabits "Every year, January brings renewed optimism for change, for a better life, for a better you. And that’s a wonderful thing. It’s wonderful, because this fresh start gives us a chance to reinvent our lives and ourselves. It allows us to reinvigorate ourselves, to shed the baggage of the previous year and do anything. Anything is possible!
On that note, Something I am incredibly excited to be working on right now is taking Billy Harvey's life-changing documentary film, songs and inspirational Q and A on the road. We are specifically targeting colleges and churches and it is with great pride that I invite you to experience one of my favorite artist stories out there.

My client, Billy Harvey, bought a gold 1981 Mercedes diesel on eBay in 14 seconds. Soon after, the unconventional environmentally friendly singer/songwriter converted it to run on waste vegetable oil. The plan was to take it on a tour across America traveling all 7,000 plus miles on the, "alternative fuel". What followed was a near epic journey of endurance and self-discovery that was both beautiful, and at times harrowing. Filmed entirely on his laptop camera, Harvey intimately chronicled this fantastic adventure of spirit. From crossing the continental divide on a sheet of ice to digging through oil dumpsters in the freezing cold, to all night drives deprived of any sleep. You will laugh, you will cry you will be kinder to your french fries…and maybe yourself.
